There is a new red, the 2014 Sardón, a blend of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Garnacha and Albillo, with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec that matured in a combination of barriques, foudres, egg-shaped cement vats and stainless steel tanks.
The wine rotates between the different vessels and all the wine has some contact with oak, but the barrels are never new, and are quite neutral.
In the following vintage the wine changes a little bit, harvesting was a little earlier looking for a lighter, fresher wine.
For now this is very perfumed, with aromas of violets and other flowers, with little influence from the oak.
The wines from the property are always quite ripe and achieve a high alcoholic degree, so the thing here is to find balance. This is quite open and a little heady, with a polished palate, very refined tannins and clean flavors.
This has similarities with the QS2 from this same vintage.
It's a pretty good value, quite serious for an entry level.
